TECHNICAL ROPES I (TECHNICIAN)

HOURS: 40+ over 5 days

AUDIENCE: Fire, Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Jobs at height

DESCRIPTION: The Crackerjack First Response Technical Rope Rescue Operations is an intense 40 hr Tech I Level NFPA compliant rope rescue course. Students will develop the skills to participate in rescues in both steep and high-angle team environments. The class will develop personal rope skills, edge safety and movement, ascending and descending, hauls systems, and belays. Students will gain knowledge in material strengths, applicable physics, loads, anchoring, and safety. The skill sets in this class are applicable to technical, mountain, cave, big wall, and confined space rescue.

COST: $750

PREREQUISITES: None – some experience with rope systems, knots, climbing preferred.

TECHNICAL ROPES I – II

HOURS: 40+ over 5 days

AUDIENCE: Search & Rescue, Technical Rescue, Cave Rescue, Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue

DESCRIPTION: The Crackerjack First Response Technical Rope Rescue Operations is an intense 40 hr Tech I-II NFPA compliant rope rescue course. This course is a great bridge to Tech II for those who may have taken a course earlier in their career but need some refresher.  Students will leave with the skills necessary to perform under direct supervision on a technical ropes team. The class will develop personal rope skills, edge safety and movement, ascending and descending, hauls systems, and belays. Systems teamwork and group problem solving skills and drills will culminate with student led scenarios The skill sets in this class are applicable to technical, mountain, cave, big wall, and confined space rescue.

COST: $750

PREREQUISITES: None – some experience with rope systems, knots, climbing preferred.

TECHNICAL ROPES III (LEADER, RIGGER)

HOURS: 40+ over 5 days

AUDIENCE: Leaders in Fire, Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Jobs at height

DESCRIPTION: The Crackerjack First Response Technical Rope Rescue Leader is an intense 40 hr Tech III Level NFPA compliant rope rescue course. Students will develop the skills evaluate a scene, formulate a plan, design rope systems, and execute rescues. The class will develop hands on skills, system design and analysis, and incident leadership skills. This class will incorporate whiteboard and real-world system analysis. The skill sets in this class are applicable to technical, mountain, cave, big wall, and confined space rescue.

COST: $850

PREREQUISITES: Operations level rope rescue experience.

WINTER WILDERNESS OPERATIONS INTRODUCTION

HOURS: 24 to 48 hours

AUDIENCE: Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement

LOCATION: Winter alpine environment required

DESCRIPTION: This course is designed for backcountry responders to SAR and Law Enforcement emergencies during winter / alpine conditions.  Emphasis is on safety, survival and operational effectiveness during SAR or LE operations in severe winter conditions. Class will cover clothing, personal gear, team gear, medical, shelter, snow travel, self arrest, and more.  There are no course pre-requisites, however, all participants should be in physical condition for arduous duty and be able to work / operate an entire day in a cold, wooded and alpine environment.  Packing list will be provided on a separate document.

COST: $500 – $650, depending on location

PREREQUISITES: Appropriate gear and conditioning for all day arduous field work.

ALPINE WINTER SAR FUNDAMENTALS

HOURS: 30 to 45 hours

AUDIENCE: Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement

LOCATION: Winter alpine environment required

DESCRIPTION: This course is designed for backcountry responders to SAR and Law Enforcement emergencies during winter / alpine conditions where moderate to technical terrain or winter conditions must be traveled (moderate angle snow or ice, stream crossings, etc). Emphasis is on safety, survival and operational effectiveness during SAR or LE operations in severe winter conditions. Class will cover basic gear and rigging for mountain operations and movement.  This is not a technical rescue course but will build on the basic skills of the intro class.

COST: $500 – $850, depending on duration and location

PREREQUISITES: Winter Wilderness Operations Intro or documented similar experience.

ADVANCED MOUNTAIN RESCUE

HOURS: 35-45 hours or seminar

AUDIENCE: Search and Rescue, Technical Rescue

LOCATION: Winter alpine environment required

DESCRIPTION: Building on the Fundamentals course or as a supplement to an operational team this course focuses on the challenges and problem solving required to perform technical rescues or difficult patient transports in the alpine or winter wilderness environment.  This class will incorporate appropriate lightweight rigging adaptations, advanced snow and ice anchors, technical snow and ice movement, all in an unforgiving landscape.  This class will test participants limits or endurance and comfort.  Overnight bivy optional.

COST: $500 – $850, depending on duration and location

PREREQUISITES: Mountain Rescue Fundamentals or documented similar experience.
